John McCarthy, Democrat
State’s Attorney
Raised in the New Jersey suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Attended Catholic University in DC. While teaching, attended Law school University of Baltimore 1979. Maryland Bar in 1979. State’s Attorney’s Office for Prince George’s County in 1980. 1982 Public Defender in Montgomery County. Served as Deputy State’s Attorney in Montgomery County for ten years, ascended to State’s Attorney in 2006. He has an extensive list of Honors and Qualifications, Accomplishments and Civic Activism.

Maxwell Uy, Democrat
Sheriff
Served in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office since his early twenties totaling over 27 years of experience. Was raised in Fremont, California. Graduated high school, joined the U.S. Army as an active-duty member during Operation Desert Storm. Relocated to the East Coast as a member of the Old Guard 3rd US Infantry Regiment. Joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as deputy in 1994. Currently serves as Chief Deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County, in charge of the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s office.

Harold Maldonado, Republican
Parent, born in Bolivia. Family emigrated to US in the 1980s living in Montgomery County since. Holds a degree in Economics with specialty in economic development. Community activist, youth soccer coach, and MCPS graduate. Active member of the community for over 30 years. Private and public sector experience; professional career focused on public economic policies to find bottlenecks in the investment environment that hinder local and domestic investment. . Passionate about returning the focus of public policies towards safeguarding the sanctity of family values and personal freedoms across county.

Michael Fryar
Michael Fryar earned his B.S. in communications from Southern Connecticut State University in 1991 M.S. in education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1994, J.D. from Quinnipiac University, and MBA from the University of Connecticut. Professional experience: as a teacher, social worker, curriculum specialist, attorney, administrator, and advocate. Served in the United States Army. Owns a law firm in Connecticut where he continues to assist clients with financial and medical decision making. Has three children who inspire him to continue to have fun and pass the attitude along to the next generation.

Dawn Iannaco-Hahn
Earned her BA degree from Siena College in 1993. MS in Counseling Psychology, Loyola University Maryland 2000. Received a Post-Master’s Certificate in Clinical and Community Counseling Johns Hopkins University in 2003 and subsequently passed her Nationally Certified Counselor and MD State licensure exams, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Worked with children and families as a mental health therapist in a clinic setting, a partial-hospital program, and as a school based mental health therapist in Baltimore City. Is currently employed as an infant and early childhood mental health therapist/consultant, and is married with 2 children.

Esther Wells
Family migrated to Montgomery County, MD from Caribbean islands 1995 Product of MCPS. Earned B.S. in Accounting from University of Maryland, 2009. Masters in Taxation from Northeastern University 2015. Active Certified Public Accountant in Maryland. Professional experience: both public accounting at the Big 4 and leading multi-billion dollar corporate tax departments through mergers & acquisitions. Serves as the Chairman & President Trustee of the Board of a multi-million dollar non-profit in Gaithersburg, MD. Esther is a proud mother of two boys. A 9-year-old who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and a 4-year-old who is charismatic and kind.
